The Pines Team

The team at Pines is all about building relationships and supporting one another in making a life of fun and friendship. It's about sharing the real joy of surfing.

All our instructors are fully qualified with the ASI (Association of Surf Instructors), have a Bronze Medallion and Senior First Aid.

Why do you surf? Because earthbound worries disappears when I paddle out. Because nothing could introduce me to the kind of hip 65 year old longboarder to an articulate 16 year old hotshot whom I would invite to the same party. Because of the life long friends I have made from all walks of life. Because of the overwhelming feeling I get watching a sunset from the line up, because one good wave, just one, can made the whole day worthwhile...Oh, I also surf to get tan.

Biggest Fear: Missing out on living life.

Heroes: Bethany Hamilton, Kelly Slater, Eddie Aikau.

Why: Bethany's courage, Kelly's raw talent, Eddie's kindness.

Females are: A neccessary evil.

If you had one wish, what would it be? (No wishing for more wishes) I wish I could fly so I wouldn't have to buy plane tickets.

Where would you like be in 10 years timeThe same way I am now, incredibly content. I don't look into the future too much because anything can happen. I give my attention to this moment and right now.The present.

Where is your favourite place on earth? Hawaii. It's like everything has been turned up a couple of notches. The colour of the ocean, the warmth and hospitality of the people, the mountains, trees and flowers.

When I'm not surfing, I'm: Trying to solve the secrets of the universe.

Why do you surf? Cause I want my arms to be as ripped as Vayas.

Biggest Fear: SPIDERS.

Why: Cause she's a maddog.

Males are:Grown up boys.

If you had one wish, what would it be? To be able to fly!

Where would you like be in 10 years time: Married with 18 kids, 5 dogs, 21 birds, a tiger and living in Bollywood... Or maybe just alive and happy!

Where is your favourite place on earth? My office.

When I'm not surfing, I'm: Eating, playing touch footy or hanging in the office and watching the surf.

Pretty Boy

Name: Jonathan 'Prettyboy' Newnes.

Stance: Natural.

Home Break:Wollongong Harbour.

Why do you surf? To get tanned.

Biggest Fear: Bikes without training wheels and entering the surf without my floaties.

Heroes: Vaya and Kobi.

Why: Kobi coz she's an awesome mafia boss, and Vaya coz he was in 50 Most Dateable guys.

Females are: Freakishly similar to me..

If you had one wish, what would it be? For the scouts to notice my potential to be a male model, cause i'm ridiculously good looking and ripped.

Where would you like be in 10 years time: Playing in gods garden with the animals dancing around me as i sing songs and celebrate life and trees and everything else amazing in this great big world.

Where is your favourite place on earth? Time Zone.

When I'm not surfing, I'm: Playing COD or watching Gossip Girl.

Chicken

Why do you surf? For fun, fitness and a great time with friends.

Biggest Fear:Sharks.

Heroes: Dad & Vaya.

Why:Dad, cos hes a top bloke and Vaya 'cos he was in 50 most dateable guys.

Males are:Weird and strange creatures.

If you had one wish, what would it be? To live a long and healthy life.

Where would you like be in 10 years time? With a physio degree, married with little munchkins (kids).

Where is your favourite place on earth?Working a nice job (well, nothing is as good as teaching surfing!) and spending time with my family.

When I'm not surfing, I'm: Hanging out at the Pines Office.

Why do you surf? Love of the beach and the feeling you get when out in the water.

Biggest Fear:Sharks.

Heroes: Ghandi.

Why: He was such an influential yet peaceful man who displayed qualities I admire.

Males are: Females are incomparable to men :) women are too awesome hahaha.

If you had one wish, what would it be? To be happy and by the beach with good waves.

Where would you like be in 10 years time: With a physio degree, married with little munchkins (kids).

Where is your favourite place on earth? North Beach and the Pines Office.

When I'm not surfing, I'm: Paddling on a ski, eating or hanging out at the Pines Office) .

Why do you surf? The feeling is like no other.

Biggest Fear: Getting old.

Heroes:Nick Vujicic.

Why:He has no arms or legs, and he still looks at life in the most positive way anyone could, does everything like a normal person, nothing stops him from smiling.

Males are: People who can change very quickly, for good or bad.

If you had one wish, what would it be? Stop world poverty.

Where would you like be in 10 years time: Alive (kids)..

Where is your favourite place on earth? Beach.

When I'm not surfing, I'm: Eating and sleeping, the occasional training.

Haydo

Why do you surf? Freedom, relaxation and mateship..

Biggest Fear:Drowning.

Why: Peaceful, forgiving, wise and passionate.

Females are: Dangerous...very, very dangerous..

If you had one wish, what would it be? A couple of teleporters...Ooooh yehhh.

Where would you like be in 10 years time? Flying fighter jets for the military.

Where is your favourite place on earth? Underwater.

When I'm not surfing, I'm: Being devlish, having fun, smiling and studying the different colours and shapes of the seaweed at the beach.

Why do you surf? Surfing has such a great lifestyle and culture. Nothing can be compared to just sitting out in the water being one with the ocean. Biggest fear: Getting caught in.

Why: Talented surfer and really humble.

Females are:Attractive like the Boss!

If you had one wish, what would it be? That I could fly.

Where would you like be in 10 years time Not planning ahead, whatever happens happens...

When I'm not surfing, I'm: Thinking about or planning my next surf trip.

Why do you surf? Because its heaps of fun and keeps you fit.

Biggest Fear:Having Tim Wylie beat me in a surf contest..Or at anything for that matter.

Why: He romps everyone.

Females are: Good cleaners.

If you had one wish, what would it be? That i could breathe under water.

Where would you like be in 10 years time: Have a good job, hanging out at north and maintaining my chiseled six pack.

Where is your favourite place on earth? In the greenroom.

When I'm not surfing, I'm:Sitting in the Pines office talking about surfing.

Why do you surf? Because it is the funnest way to get a tan.

Biggest Fear: Missing the surf when it's pumping.

Why: He rips and she does my pay.

Females are: Heart breakers.

If you had one wish, what would it be? To kick Mero's butt in a surf contest (the time will come!)

Where would you like be in 10 years time? Wherever as long as I'm surfing or wherever the Boss tell me to go..

Where is your favourite place on earth? The ocean and the Pines Office.

When I'm not surfing, I'm: Playing COD on my Xbox.

Home Break: North Wollongong.

Why do you surf? Because it's a magical thing, it's a beautiful and spiritual thing, it's the only Hawaiian sport thats still alive. It's apart of my heritage, it's in my blood. It's a very spiritual thing for me.

Biggest Fear: Watching ONG BAK with Vaya and Sam.

Heroes:Sally Fitzgibbon, Owen Wright, Mick Fanning.

Why:Because they are amazing surfers and shred at life.

Males are: Evil at times.

If you had one wish, what would it be? To live in Hawaii.

Where would you like be in 10 years time? On Pro Tour.

Where is your favourite place on earth? The ocean.

When I'm not surfing, I'm: Skiing or hanging out at the Pines Office.

Frankie

Home Break: Warilla Beach/Barrack Point/Windang Island.

Why do you surf? I love the freedom and relaxation. Its just so free and easy.

Biggest Fear:Vaya if i miss a shift..

Heroes: Superman.

Why: He teaches us to never give up.

Males are:Males are such better surfers, but Females are better to watch lol.

If you had one wish, what would it be? One wish would be never having to work so there was more time to enjoy the finer things in life.

Where would you like be in 10 years time: In 10 years i want to have my own Finance company with people that work for me so i have time to travel and surf. (kids)

Where is your favourite place on earth? My favourite place by far is Bali, awesome waves, awesome people and mad partying.

When I'm not surfing, I'm: When im not surfing im never to far from water, either water skiing, wakeboarding, snow skiing, fishing or Moto riding.
