Our Story

When I sat down to write the story of Pines Surfing Academy, I honestly didn't know where to begin nor what to write.

So I did what I've always done when I need clarity. I slipped on my thongs, jumped on my beaten up bike and rode down to the beach.

I sat on the point and stared out across the ocean. The water was a deep, endless blue. A handful of surfers silhouetted waited patiently for the next set, and before long a small pod of dolphins appeared. They glided through the lineup with such grace and were cheekily stealing waves from the surfers.

In that moment, it hit me.

That's what Pines Surfing Academy is really about.

It's about those perfect blue-sky mornings when the ocean slows everything down. It's about the feeling you get when you catch your first wave and realise, "That wasn't as hard as I thought." It's not always about trying to achieve the ultimate goal. It's about discovering confidence you didn't know you had.

Yes, we teach people how to surf. We teach ocean safety, technique and respect for the environment. But those things are only part of the story.

The real reward isn't becoming the world's best surfer. It's about feeling free and alive.

It's finding the confidence to paddle out, challenge yourself, share waves with friends, and every now and then, if you're lucky enough, surf alongside a pod of dolphins.

That's the feeling we want every person to take home after spending time with us.

Because surfing isn't just something you learn.

It's something you experience.

And once you've experienced it, a little piece of the ocean stays with you forever.
