SISTERS OF THE SEA

Find Your People. Find Your Wave.

Sisters of the Sea was created because we kept seeing the same thing: women who wanted to surf but didn't feel like the ocean was for them. Too intimidating. Too male-dominated. Too far outside their comfort zone.

So we built a space that was entirely theirs.

Sisters of the Sea is a women's-only surf program that runs year-round at Pines Surfing Academy. It's not just about learning to surf — it's about finding a community of women who push each other, support each other and celebrate each other's waves.

Who This Is For

  • Women who have always wanted to surf but never felt comfortable starting
  • Women returning to surfing after time away from the water
  • Anyone looking for a supportive, female-only environment to learn and grow
  • Women who want connection, confidence and a new challenge

What You'll Walk Away With

  • Real surfing skills — from paddling to riding waves confidently
  • Ocean safety knowledge that stays with you for life
  • A community of women who genuinely have your back
  • Confidence in the water and beyond it
  • A program t-shirt, hat and Hydro Flask to mark the journey

  • 6 x 2-hour surf lessons across 6 weeks
  • ASI-qualified female-friendly instructors
  • All surfboards and wetsuits provided
  • Program t-shirt, hat and metal Hydro Flask
  • A flexible schedule — if conditions or life get in the way, we work around it

Why Sisters of the Sea

There's something that happens when women surf together. The encouragement is louder. The celebrations are bigger. The fear disappears faster. We've watched women who arrived nervous and uncertain leave as surfers — and as friends. That's what this program is built for.

  • Women's-only environment — safe, supportive and empowering
  • Runs year-round every weekend
  • Illawarra's award-winning surf school
  • ASI-accredited instructors
